The ultimate guide of useing iPoli-2S-250A Auto Metallographic Grinding Polishing Machine(Single Force).

Colleagues, today, I’m honored to introduce to you the iPoli-2S-250A Auto Metallographic Grinding Polishing Machine (Single Force), crafted with ingenuity by Mikrosize. Equipped with cutting-edge single-force control technology, this device excels in fields such as material analysis and metallographic research. It offers remarkable convenience to researchers in scientific studies and industrial inspection.

Before operating the equipment, thorough preparations are necessary. First, clean the operation area, ensuring it’s tidy and free of obstacles. Next, check whether the power cord is intact and securely connected. Meanwhile, to safeguard your personal safety, wear safety goggles and gloves. These seemingly trivial steps are, in fact, crucial prerequisites for safe operation.

Once the preparations are complete, select appropriate consumables based on different grinding and polishing stages. For rough grinding, install a silicon carbide grinding disc with a grit size of 240# - 600#. During the fine grinding stage, replace it with a diamond grinding disc of 1000# - 2000#. For polishing, use a polishing disc made of flannel or silk, and pair it with corresponding polishing agents, such as alumina or diamond suspension. When installing the grinding or polishing disc, align it precisely with the central hole of the spindle and tighten the fixing nut clockwise to ensure a secure installation, preventing potential hazards during high-speed rotation.

Subsequently, fix the sample to be processed onto the pneumatic sample holder. The sample holder of this equipment is suitable for cylindrical samples with a diameter not exceeding 25mm and block samples with a maximum side length of 25mm. When placing the sample, ensure that the sample surface is parallel to the grinding and polishing disc, and the clamping force is just right. Too loose a grip may cause the sample to fly out, while too tight a grip may damage the sample. After fixing the sample, return to the operation panel to set the parameters. In the left-side pressure adjustment area, the single-force system supports pressure adjustment within the range of 0 - 250N. It is recommended to set 80 - 150N for rough grinding, 50 - 100N for fine grinding, and 20 - 50N for polishing. In the right-side speed adjustment area, set the rotation speed at 200 - 300rpm for rough grinding. For fine grinding and polishing, reduce the speed to 150 - 200rpm to minimize damage to the sample. The time-setting function at the bottom allows a maximum single grinding and polishing duration of 60 minutes. Typically, rough grinding takes 3 - 5 minutes, fine grinding takes 2 - 3 minutes, and polishing takes 1 - 2 minutes.

After setting the parameters, press the green start button. The grinding and polishing disc will start rotating at the preset speed, and the sample holder will slowly descend until the sample comes into contact with the disc. The single-force system will simultaneously apply the set pressure. During the grinding and polishing process, constantly monitor the surface condition of the sample. If any abnormal vibration or noise is detected, immediately press the red emergency stop button, cut off the power supply, and troubleshoot the problem.

Once the grinding and polishing are completed, the equipment will stop running automatically, and the sample holder will rise. At this point, turn off the power supply, carefully remove the sample, clean the surface residues with anhydrous ethanol or acetone, and dry it with a soft cloth. Additionally, don't forget to clean the grinding debris and waste liquid on the equipment workbench to prepare for the next operation.

The iPoli-2S-250A Auto Metallographic Grinding Polishing Machine (Single Force) by Mikrosize, with its outstanding performance and user-friendly design, simplifies the metallographic grinding and polishing process and improves work efficiency and quality. I hope that everyone will strictly follow the operation guidelines during operation, fully leverage the advantages of the equipment, and contribute to scientific research and industrial production.
