Hey, friends! Today, let's have fun with the iThick-4000 Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge from Mikrosize! Plug in the probe plug, press the power button. When you hear a "beep", you'll enter the measurement interface, and the sound velocity value before the last shutdown will be displayed on the screen.
Calibrating the probe is crucial! Every time you change the probe, adjust the sound velocity, replace the battery, or when there is a significant change in temperature, you need to calibrate it. Press the calibration button, select the probe model, and use the standard test block of (4.00±0.01) mm. When the sound velocity is set to 5920 m/s, if the measured value is correct, the calibration is done. Remember, for calibration, only use the standard test block on the instrument panel!
Before measuring the thickness, you need to adjust the sound velocity. If you know the sound velocity of the material, press the parameter adjustment button to switch and modify the sound velocity value. If you don't know it, don't worry. Find a test block of the same material with a known thickness. First, calibrate the zero point of the probe, measure the thickness, press the parameter adjustment button to change the measured value, and the sound velocity will be automatically calculated.
Once you're ready, apply the coupling agent, press the probe tightly against the material being measured, and the thickness value will be displayed immediately! If the coupling is good, there will be a mark. If it's not good, readjust it. This instrument has two modes: single-point mode and scanning mode. You can switch between them by pressing the mode switch button. In the single-point mode, it measures 4 times per second, and in the scanning mode, it measures 10 times per second. It's really convenient!
If you want to change the display resolution, you can switch between 0.1 mm and 0.01 mm by pressing specific buttons simultaneously when turning on the instrument. Press the unit switch button, and you can freely switch between the metric system and the imperial system. It also has a storage function. There are 20 files, and each file can store 100 measured thickness values. You can easily save data, change the file name, and delete records by pressing the corresponding buttons.
With the iThick-4000 Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge from Mikrosize, the thickness measurement work becomes extremely simple. Hurry up and give it a try!
